Description

Trichogramma japonicum is a tiny parasitic wasp, primarily used in the biological control of rice pests. It parasitizes the eggs of various lepidopteran pests, particularly the rice borer (Scirpophaga incertulas). This species is particularly effective in paddy fields, where it plays a crucial role in managing rice pests. T. japonicum has a narrow host range, favoring pests found in rice-growing environments. It thrives in humid, warm conditions typical of rice fields and is more commonly utilized in regions with rice cultivation. Its parasitism helps reduce the reliance on chemical pesticides, promoting sustainable farming practices.

Usage Instruction

Pest Monitoring Method

Timing of Release: Release when adult pests are detected in the filed. Use pheromone traps or light traps to monitor adult pest activity. Begin release once pest activity is observed.

Trichogramma Egg Cards

Hang 18–30 Trichogramma egg cards per acre for effective control. Conduct subsequent releases after 7–10 days based on pest infestation levels. Releasing twice in succession enhances efficacy.

No Pesticide
